Lauf Cycles was born in Reykjavík in 2010, when engineer Benedikt Skulason and designer Gudberg Bjornsson set out to rethink how bikes handle rough terrain. Drawing on advanced composite materials and a passion for riding, they developed a lightweight suspension fork inspired by leaf spring technology. What began as a simple idea quickly gained momentum, with early success on Icelandic trails. Today, Lauf creates high-performance bikes designed for speed, stability, and versatility, built to handle everything from gravel roads to everyday rides, all shaped by Icelandic innovation and a love of the outdoors.

Kae Takeshita leads Lauf Cycles’ global assembly and distribution operations in Harrisonburg, Virginia. With a background in competitive cycling and years of riding experience, she helps ensure that every bike reflects Lauf Cycles’ rider-focused approach to building, delivering, and experiencing bikes. She works closely with Lauf Cycles’ team in Iceland to bring innovative bikes to market.
