Rán Flygenring
Rán Flygenring (b. 1987) is an award-winning Icelandic-Norwegian author and illustrator known for her playful, unconventional style. Her work encompasses books, illustrations, and storytelling, drawing inspiration from nature, folklore, and history, and ranges from volcanoes and whales to elves and presidents. Her books have been published internationally, earning honors such as the Nordic Council Children's Literature Prize, the German Youth Literature Prize (Deutscher Jugendliteraturpreis) and the Icelandic Literature Prize.
Many Icelandic books, including works by Flygenring and her peers, are translated into languages worldwide with support from the Icelandic Literature Center. Check out more Icelandic authors whose works have been translated into English.
