Icelandair named her the world's worst photographer, then sent her across Iceland to prove that even she couldn't ruin the view; now Blanche Mortemard sits down in New York to share what a dodgy photographer can capture when the scenery is this outstanding.

Icelandair named her the world's worst photographer, then sent her across Iceland to prove that even she couldn't ruin the view; now Blanche Mortemard sits down in New York to share what a dodgy photographer can capture when the scenery is this outstanding.

Blanche Montemard stands in front of the Icelandair "Diary of a Really Bad Photographer" tour bus in the Icelandic countryside, its side panel reading "Caution: A really bad photographer may emerge, pose at own risk."

In April 2026, Icelandair set out to prove one point: even the world's worst photographer can take a great photo in Iceland.

More than 127,000 people applied for the title.

Paris resident Blanche Mortemard won it, chosen for her gift for consistently poor photos and her refreshingly honest approach to travel. In June, she spent ten days crossing the country, camera in hand.

Now she comes to London to talk about how it went.

In this moderated conversation, Blanche shares the story behind the campaign and the photos that came out of it. Expect blurry glaciers, honest reflections, and a case for why the best travel photos are not always the technically good ones.

So did Iceland do all the heavy lifting, or did Blanche somehow out-chaos the scenery?

Come find out.
