Sveinbjörn Thorarensen, whose stage moniker is Hermigervill, is a prominent figure in Iceland's electronic music scene. He is a multi-instrumentalist, producer, and DJ known for his eclectic approach to music, blending traditional Icelandic tunes with electronic and synth-driven sounds. He has worked with various well-known Icelandic artists, such as FM Belfast, Berndsen, and Retro Stefson, and is also recognized for his solo work, including albums like Plays Icelandic Pop Classics (2009) and Switched-On Iceland (2023), where he reimagines Icelandic music classics using 70s synthesizer techniques.

Hermigervill is passionate about preserving Icelandic musical heritage. He curates rare vinyl records, reviving forgotten Icelandic gems from the past and reintroducing them to modern audiences. Despite his love for vinyl, he has a complicated relationship with streaming services like Spotify due to concerns about digitization quality and artist compensation. However, his work is still available on various platforms, including Bandcamp and SoundCloud.

He is a popular figure during Taste of Iceland events and, when he is home, an active figure in the Reykjavik music scene. He frequently performs at events like Iceland Airwaves and hosts vinyl DJ nights at local venues.
