Join global best-selling Icelandic authors Ragnar Jónasson and Yrsa Sigurðardóttir for a conversation about their novels and the literature festival they run as a side hustle.
We're thrilled to have Lindsey Wade, a seasoned investigator with over 20 years in law enforcement and a cold case expert, moderating Iceland's Crime Fiction Royalty at Taste of Iceland. With her background in solving violent crimes and cold cases, including her work on DNA law, Lindsey brings a wealth of investigative experience and insight—making her the perfect guide for this thrilling conversation with Iceland's top crime authors.
Get ready for an engaging conversation with Iceland's top crime fiction authors, often hailed as the King and Queen of the genre. Ragnar Jónasson will dive into his latest novel, Reykjavík, co-authored with former Icelandic Prime Minister Katrín Jakobsdóttir. This atmospheric thriller explores the decades-long investigation into the disappearance of a young woman from Viðey island, set against the stunning backdrop of Iceland's capital. Expect a deep dive into their recent works, the art of storytelling, and the distinct world of Icelandic crime fiction.
The story is set in part during the two-hundredth anniversary of the city of Reykjavík in 1986, allowing the reader a glimpse into a world gone by. Ragnar Jónasson will also discuss his latest book, "Death at the Sanatorium," which was released in the U.S. on September 10.
Yrsa Sigurðardóttir will discuss "The Legacy," the first book in the Huldar and Freyja series. "The Legacy" introduces child psychologist Freyja and policeman Huldar, who must set aside their differences to solve a highly oddly executed murder of a young mother, witnessed only by her silent young daughter. The Legacy was awarded the Blooddrop award for best crime novel in Iceland the year it came out. It contains one of the most innovative murder methods in recent crime novel publications.
"Reykjavík" and "The Legacy" books will be available for sale, as well as Ragnar's upcoming new novel "Death at the Sanatorium" and signing at the event.
We have a brand new literary flight deal with Icelandair! Check out the Iceland Noir festival packages, which include a flight and festival pass.
Please present your ticket at least 30 minutes before the event begins. Unclaimed tickets will be released to on-site guests 15 minutes prior to the event on a first-come, first-served basis.
