Bríet is an award-winning Icelandic singer known for her songs "Esjan", "Feimin(n)" and "Rólegur kúreki". She is a multi-instrumentalist who writes and performs her own songs but loves to collaborate with others. She is a visual and artistic performer seeking deeper meaning and connections to her artistic choices. This reflects in her work, as Bríet directs her own videos, music short films and most of her shows. She is also a prominent actress and paints as well.
Most of her musical work is done with her longtime musical partner, writer and producer Pálmi Ragnar Ásgeirsson. Her album Kveðja, Bríet was selected as the album of the year at the 2021 Icelandic Music Awards along with winning for the singer of the year and lyricist of the year.
She has been extremely successful in the Icelandic market with interest from all over the world. She has been writing and performing since she was a teenager and never wants to stop exploring emotions through creating and now embarks on her next chapter aiming for London, Scandinavia and the rest of the world.
“I like the color yellow. I love people that laugh and I adore flowers. I was 17 when I released my first EP and all of my music is about love in one way or another.”
Born and raised in the Northern fishing village of Húsavík, singer-songwriter has recently supported artists such as The Paper Kites, Juníus Meyvant in Europe and Radical Face in North America. Axel recorded his first EP ‘Forest Fires’ back in 2015, in Iceland where the songs were written under the influence of everything from Bon Iver to Bombay Bicycle Club.
It yielded an international phenomenon in the form of the title track, generating over 40 million streams. At 19 years old, he moved to Amsterdam. He admits, "I was supposed to be in a music mecca, but I never left the apartment." So, he traded Amsterdam for the seaside town of Brighton when Axel felt a strong pull to return to Iceland and chose to plant roots in the capital Reykjavík.
After all his traveling he finished writing his debut album ‘You Stay by the Sea’ about the search for a place to feel at peace. Tapping into the DIY spirit of his earliest recordings, but with a sense of refinement and newfound wisdom. ‘You Stay by the Sea’ is out now via Nettwerk Records.
A longtime heavyweight of the Icelandic music scene, Hermigervill, multi-instrumentalist, producer, composer and DJ has worked with many notable Icelandic artists, produced a multitude of Icelandic number-one hits and released innumerable records under various guises.
As well as working live on stage and behind the scenes with acts such as Retro Stefson, FM Belfast, Berndsen, Kira Kira, Þórunn Antonía, Sturla Atlas, Unnsteinn, and many more, Hermigervill's unique electronic live act has made crowds big and small dance all over the world.
Hermigervill, as an active part of the Reykjavík DJ scene, has made something of a niche out of unearthing lost Icelandic musical gems from the past and bringing them to the dancefloors of today, and is currently working on a comprehensive series of re-issue compilations which will soon be available, presenting this previously forgotten musical heritage to an international audience.
