Join the National Nordic Museum for their program Soup & Cinema where you can enjoy a Nordic film and a hot soup. The first film of this season of Soup & Cinema will be the Icelandic film Woman at War/Kona fer í stríð by director Benedikt Erlingsson.
Woman at war was premiered at the 2018 Cannes Film Festival and was released May 22, 2018, to critical acclaim. The film was selected as the Icelandic entry for the Best Foreign Language Film at the 91st Academy Awards but was not nominated.
Woman at War follows Halla, a 50-year-old environmental activist who crusades against the local aluminium industry in Iceland. As her actions grow bolder, her life changes in the blink of an eye when she is finally granted permission to adopt a girl from Ukraine.
