Iceland Writers Retreat & Iceland Readers Retreat

Iceland Writers Retreat & Iceland Readers Retreat

A series of workshops and panels led by an esteemed team of international writers.

Attend Writing Workshops and Cultural Tours in Iceland. The Iceland Writers Retreat is an international gathering that brings together authors from many different countries. Over the course of the retreat, each participant is enrolled in a total of five two-hour small-group writing workshops led by internationally acclaimed authors, a Q&A panel with all faculty, and numerous readings and social functions. The Iceland Writers Retreat was founded in 2014 by author and First lady of Iceland Eliza Reid and Erica Jacobs Green.

Between intimate workshops and lectures, we’ll offer the chance to tour the spectacular Golden Circle, sit in the cozy cafes of Reykjavik, soak in geothermal hot springs, listen to new Icelandic music, meet contemporary Icelandic writers, and learn about the country’s rich literary tradition.

The Iceland Readers Retreat will run concurrently with the IWR. Featuring New Yorker staff writer Adam Gopnik (in 2022), the IRR is an event for avid readers to delve into the oeuvre of an internationally recognized author and the extensive literary traditions and heritage of Iceland. You can find information about IWR and registration for both retreats here.
