We’ve been talking about tales of discovery on the blog lately, and now we know how Iceland and Greenland got their names, we want to know what you would call Iceland. And we’re thinking beyond just green or icy.

We started the conversation with a photo on our Facebook page and asked, “What would you name Iceland if this was your first glimpse? _ _ _ _ Land?”

You’ve been responding in your thousands on Facebook and Twitter, so now we’re welcoming you to submit your name suggestions via our brand new naming page on the website. Here, the most popular contributions can be viewed along with the latest videos and images from the campaign.

There’s even going to be a naming booth at Keflavik airport so that visitors can share what Iceland means to them.

Inspired by Iceland will add a special name day to their calendar to honour the winning name, celebrating everything that makes Iceland amazing and all the suggestions that have been submitted. It has also been suggested that the person who comes up with the best name will be awarded with an honorary title and a piece of Iceland to call their own.
